Common Pollen Beetle
Brassicogethes aeneus

A tiny metallic beetle found on flowers, especially oilseed rape and other brassicas, as well as along hedgerows and field margins. Adults feed mainly on pollen and move between blossoms by crawling and short flights, while larvae develop inside flower buds and also feed on pollen. It is notable as an important agricultural pest because heavy feeding in unopened buds can reduce seed set in crops.
