Canadian Lynx
Lynx canadensis

The Canadian lynx lives mainly in northern boreal forests, where deep snow and dense cover shape its hunting style. It is a solitary ambush predator that relies heavily on snowshoe hares, supplemented by birds, squirrels, and other small animals when needed. Broad, furred paws act like natural snowshoes, letting it travel efficiently over powdery snow. Its long ear tufts and short black-tipped tail are distinctive field marks.
