Greenhouse Millipede
Oxidus gracilis

A small millipede often found in greenhouses, gardens, compost, and damp leaf litter, especially in warm sheltered places. It moves slowly through soil and debris, feeding mainly on decaying plant matter, fungi, and soft organic remains. When disturbed, it coils its many-legged body and releases foul defensive chemicals from glands along its sides. Originally from East Asia, it has spread widely around the world with soil, potted plants, and greenhouse trade.
