Least Skipper
Ancyloxypha numitor

The adult Least Skipper is a tiny orange-brown butterfly of wet grasslands, marshes, stream edges, and weedy ditches. It flies low and weakly through dense vegetation, often staying close to grasses and nectar flowers. Adults drink nectar from small flowers and rest with the angled, ready-to-spring posture typical of skippers. One notable fact is that it is among the smallest North American skippers, with a fluttering flight that often keeps it just above the vegetation.
