Eastern Gorilla
Gorilla beringei

Eastern gorillas inhabit dense montane, bamboo, and lowland forests where they travel on the ground and climb when feeding. They are mainly herbivorous, eating leaves, stems, shoots, bark, fruit, and occasional invertebrates. Adults use great strength, chest beating, charges, and deep vocalizations to settle conflicts more often than actual fighting. A notable fact is that silverback males can lead and defend family groups for many years.
