Coolie Loach
Pangio kuhlii

The coolie loach is a small, eel-like freshwater fish from slow streams, forest pools, and soft-bottomed waters in Southeast Asia. It spends much of the day hidden among leaf litter, roots, or sand, becoming more active at dusk and night. Its diet includes tiny worms, insect larvae, crustaceans, and organic particles sifted from the substrate. A notable fact is that the sharp, movable spines beneath its eyes can help deter predators and make it difficult to swallow.
