Goldfish Fry
Carassius auratus (fry)
Goldfish fry live in warm, still freshwater among fine plants, roots, and shallow edges where larger fish have trouble reaching them. They make short darting movements and spend much of their time hiding between feeding bouts. Their diet is made up of algae films, infusoria, tiny crustaceans, and other microscopic food. At this stage the body is partly translucent, helping the small fish blend into bright, plant-filled water.
