Banded Bullfrog
Kaloula pulchra

The adult is a stout, mostly terrestrial frog of humid lowlands, gardens, forest edges, and temporary breeding pools. It spends much of the dry or exposed part of the day buried in loose soil or hidden beneath cover, emerging after rain to feed on ants, termites, beetles, and other small invertebrates. When threatened, it can puff up and release sticky, irritating skin secretions that discourage many predators. Males gather at rain-filled pools and give loud, resonant calls during the breeding season.
