Seminole Rams-Horn
Planorbella duryi

The Seminole rams-horn is a small freshwater snail found in ponds, marshes, ditches, and aquaria, grazing slowly over plants, glass, and soft sediment. It feeds mainly on algae, biofilm, decaying plant matter, and other organic films using a rasping radula. Its flat, coiled shell resembles a tiny ram's horn and provides its main protection when disturbed. Like many planorbid snails, it carries hemoglobin in its blood, giving it an unusual reddish body tone for a snail.
