American Orange Assassin Bug
Pselliopus barberi

An adult assassin bug of fields, gardens, woodland edges, and weedy roadsides, often seen walking over leaves and stems. It is an ambush predator that seizes other insects with its front legs and pierces them with a sharp rostrum. Adults can make short flights and feed on a variety of small arthropods. Its vivid orange markings are a notable warning signal, and its bite can be painful if handled.
