Four-spotted Mantidfly
Dicromantispa interrupta

Four-spotted mantidflies are delicate lacewing relatives found around woodland edges, scrub, and other warm habitats where flowers, shrubs, and spider webs are common. Adults fly readily but often hunt from vegetation, using mantis-like raptorial forelegs to grab small insects. Their larvae have an unusual life history, seeking spider egg sacs and feeding inside them as they develop. Despite the mantis appearance, they are not true mantises but neuropterans related to green lacewings and antlions.
