Zebra Dove
Geopelia striata

The adult zebra dove is a small, slender dove of open woodland, scrub, farmland, parks, and settled areas across Southeast Asia and introduced Pacific islands. It walks on the ground picking up grass seeds, weed seeds, and tiny fallen grains, usually relying on quick takeoff rather than force when threatened. Adults are known for their fine barred plumage and soft, pleasant cooing, which has made them popular cage birds in parts of their range. Pairs build a simple twig platform nest and may breed near people where food and cover are available.
