Blade Vertigo
Vertigo milium

Blade Vertigo is a minute land snail found in damp leaf litter, wet meadows, marsh edges, and mossy ground where humidity stays high. It moves slowly through vegetation and soil debris, grazing on films of algae, fungi, and decaying plant material with a rasping radula. When threatened or dried by the weather, it withdraws into its tiny coiled shell and relies on moisture-saving mucus. A notable feature is its extremely small, blade-like shell form, only a few millimetres tall, which lets it shelter deep among fine litter and sedges.
