American Lake Charr
Salvelinus namaycush

Adult American Lake Charr are cold-water lake predators, often cruising deep, clear waters and moving shallower to spawn over rocky shoals in autumn. They eat fish such as ciscoes, smelt, sculpins, and other small prey, while also taking crustaceans and aquatic insects when available. Adults rely on steady swimming, sudden lunges, and strong jaws rather than schooling defenses. They are notably long-lived fish, with some individuals surviving for decades in large northern lakes.
