Koi Larva
Cyprinus rubrofuscus (larva)

Newly hatched koi larvae drift and wriggle in warm, still freshwater near plants and pond edges. They feed first from a yolk reserve, then begin taking tiny plankton and microscopic organic particles. Their translucent bodies make them difficult to spot among suspended debris. A notable early feature is their rapid shift from passive drifting to active swimming within just a few days.
