Island Thrush
Turdus poliocephalus

The adult Island Thrush is a medium-sized songbird found across many Pacific and island mountain habitats, especially forests, scrub, and moist uplands. It forages by hopping on the ground, turning leaf litter for insects, worms, and snails, while also taking berries and other fruit. Adults fly between low perches and cover, using quick takeoffs and direct bursts of flight to escape danger. The species is famously variable in plumage across islands and subspecies, with local forms often looking noticeably different from one another.
