Green Tree Frog Tadpole
Pelodryas caerulea (tadpole)

This aquatic stage lives in still or slow-moving freshwater such as ponds, flooded ditches, and temporary pools. It swims with a flexible tail and feeds mostly by grazing algae, biofilm, and soft plant material. Its mottled body helps it blend into muddy water and submerged vegetation. A notable fact is that it must complete a major body rebuild, absorbing its tail as legs and lungs become useful for life at the water’s edge.
