Three spot gourami
Trichopodus trichopterus

Adult three spot gouramis live in slow rivers, marshes, ponds, and rice paddies across Southeast Asia, favoring warm water with dense vegetation. They are omnivores, taking insects, larvae, algae, and small aquatic animals while also browsing plant material. Males can become territorial and build floating bubble nests where eggs and young are guarded. Their accessory labyrinth organ lets them breathe atmospheric air, helping them survive in stagnant, oxygen-poor habitats.
