Australian Golden Orb-weaver
Trichonephila edulis
Adults live in forests, woodland edges, parks, and gardens, building large golden orb webs between branches or shrubs. They wait on or near the web for flying insects such as flies, moths, beetles, and wasps, then bite and wrap captured prey. Females are much larger than males, and the silk is famous for its yellow-gold sheen and impressive strength.
