Long-legged House Spider
Cryptachaea gigantipes

The adult lives in houses, sheds, garages, and other dry sheltered places, building loose tangle webs in corners and around clutter. It hangs among the threads and rushes out when vibrations signal a trapped fly, mosquito, or small arthropod. Its long legs help it move across messy silk quickly while keeping its body out of reach. Females are often seen guarding egg sacs within the web, a useful habit for protecting the next generation.
