Small Wall Spider
Karaops strayamate

The adult small wall spider is a flattened Australian spider found on tree trunks, rock faces, walls, and beneath loose bark or stones. It does not rely on a capture web; instead, it sits tight against a surface and ambushes flies, moths, and other small arthropods with a sudden burst of speed. Its broad stance and quick sideways movement help it vanish into narrow shelter when disturbed. A notable feature of wall spiders is their extremely rapid turning response, useful for tracking prey at close range.
