Glowworm
Arachnocampa flava

The adult is a delicate fungus gnat found around the same moist caves, gullies, and rainforest banks where the larvae grow. It flies mainly to find mates and suitable egg-laying sites, and it usually does not feed because its mouthparts are reduced. Its short adult life is powered by reserves built up during the larval stage. One notable feature is that the famous glowing larval hunter becomes a fragile, winged reproductive adult.
