Latticed Sheet-web Weaver
Neriene clathrata

The adult inhabits low vegetation in woodland edges, hedgerows, meadows, and damp grassy places. It builds a small horizontal sheet web with a loose lattice of support threads, then waits beneath it for midges, aphids, and other tiny insects to fall in. When prey is trapped, it rushes across the silk and subdues the catch with venomous fangs. Its patterned abdomen and latticed web give it excellent concealment among tangled stems.
