Biting Midge
Culicoides marmoratus

Biting Midge is a minute flying fly found around marshes, wet fields, and damp vegetation, especially in calm humid conditions. Females take blood meals from vertebrates to produce eggs, while males and non-biting feeding often rely on nectar or other sugary fluids. Its tiny size lets it slip through surprisingly fine gaps, making its bite feel out of proportion to its body.
