Sambar
Rusa unicolor

The adult sambar is a large forest deer of South and Southeast Asia, often using wooded hills, thickets, and areas near water. It browses on leaves, grasses, herbs, bark, aquatic plants, and fallen fruit, becoming especially active at dusk and night. Mature males carry rugged three-tined antlers and may wallow, scent-mark, and clash during the rut. A notable alarm behavior is its loud, repeated bark when it detects predators such as tigers or leopards.
