Bigheaded ant
Pheidole megacephala
The adult bigheaded ant lives in soil nests, under debris, in leaf litter, and around human-altered habitats across many warm regions. Workers forage for small arthropods, seeds, carrion, and honeydew from sap-feeding insects. The species is famous for soldier workers with oversized heads and strong mandibles, helping it dominate food and nesting sites as a major invasive ant.
