Seven-spot Ladybird Pupa
Coccinella septempunctata (pupa)

The pupa is fixed to a leaf, stem, or other sheltered surface while the body reorganizes into the adult form. It does not hunt, instead relying on a compact shape, tough outer covering, warning colors, and occasional twitching to discourage enemies. Energy for this stage comes from reserves built up during the larval feeding period. Although it looks inactive, major transformation is taking place inside the pupal case.
