Polar Bear
Ursus maritimus

Adult polar bears roam Arctic sea ice, islands, and coastlines, often traveling long distances between hunting areas. They are mostly solitary predators that stalk seals at breathing holes and haul-outs, while also scavenging carcasses when available. Their huge paws help spread weight on ice and act like paddles during long swims. A notable fact is that the white-looking coat is made of translucent hairs over black skin, helping absorb warmth in extreme cold.
