Nyala Calf
Nyala angasii (calf)
Nyala calves live hidden in dense thickets and savanna woodland while their mothers return to nurse them. They rely on staying still in cover, later nibbling tender leaves and shoots as they grow. Their reddish coat with pale stripes and spots breaks up their outline in dappled shade, making concealment their main defense.
