Ring-tailed Lemur
Lemur catta

Adult ring-tailed lemurs live in the dry forests, gallery forests, and rocky scrub of southern and southwestern Madagascar. They are agile, mostly ground-foraging primates that also climb well, feeding on fruit, leaves, flowers, bark, sap, and occasional insects. Social life is active and vocal, with scent marking, sun-basking postures, and high-held tails helping individuals communicate. One notable fact is that females usually dominate males in troop interactions, which is unusual among many mammals.
