Australian White Ibis Chick
Threskiornis molucca (chick)

A downy nestling raised in a stick nest, usually in a noisy colony built over water or in wetland trees. It depends on adults for regurgitated food such as insects, crustaceans, small fish, and other soft animal matter. The bill is still developing its long curved shape, and the chick mostly defends itself by crouching, calling, and pecking at close threats. Like other ibis chicks, it hatches helpless and must grow quickly before leaving the nest.
