Hobo Spider
Eratigena agrestis

The adult hobo spider is a ground-dwelling funnel weaver often found in grass, wood piles, rock crevices, and human-made structures in parts of its introduced and native range. It waits in a sheet-like web with a funnel retreat, then darts out to bite insects and other small arthropods that cross the silk. Adults are quick runners but poor climbers on smooth surfaces, and males may wander widely while searching for mates. Despite its reputation, its venom is used mainly for prey capture and confirmed serious effects on people are not well supported.
