Destructive trailing ant
Trichomyrmex destructor
A tiny yellow-brown tramp ant found in warm regions, nesting in soil, masonry gaps, wall voids, and other sheltered places around human structures. It forages along clear scent trails for sweets, oils, dead insects, and other protein-rich scraps. An individual worker can bite, sting, and release chemical signals when disturbed. This species is notorious for chewing soft materials and has been associated with damage to electrical insulation.
