Winter Crane Fly
Trichocera annulata

The adult is a delicate, long-legged fly seen in cool months around damp woods, gardens, and buildings. It makes short fluttering flights and often rests on walls, vegetation, or leaf litter. Adults feed little if at all, with most energy devoted to finding mates and laying eggs. A notable fact is that this crane fly can be active in winter temperatures that keep many other flies hidden.
