Wood Cockroach
Hemithyrsocera histrio

The adult Turkestan cockroach is a fast, ground-running insect of warm dry habitats, often sheltering under stones, bark, leaf litter, or human-made debris. It is mostly nocturnal and omnivorous, feeding on decaying vegetation, stored food scraps, and other organic material. When threatened, it bolts for cover, squeezes into tight spaces, and may use its wings for short fluttering movement or display depending on sex and condition. A notable feature of cockroaches is their tough, flattened exoskeleton, which helps them survive in confined shelters.
