Asian Glossy Starling
Aplonis panayensis
The adult Asian Glossy Starling is a sleek, glossy green-black bird of Southeast Asian forests, mangroves, parks, plantations, and towns. It feeds mainly on fruit, nectar, and insects, moving quickly between fruiting trees and perches. Bright red eyes and metallic plumage make the adult especially distinctive in good light. By swallowing fruit and passing seeds elsewhere, it helps disperse many tropical plants.
