Discoid cockroach
Blaberus discoidalis

The adult discoid cockroach is a large tropical forest-floor cockroach from Central and South America. It is mostly nocturnal, running between bark, leaf litter, and rotting logs while feeding on decaying vegetation, fruit, and other organic matter. Adults have a broad flattened exoskeleton and full wings, though they rely more on quick running and hiding than on flight. Females retain the egg case internally and give birth to live nymphs, a notable trait among many blaberid cockroaches.
