Red goblin roach
Paratemnopteryx couloniana

The adult red goblin roach is a small nocturnal cockroach associated with sheltered forest-floor microhabitats such as bark, logs, and leaf litter. It scavenges decaying vegetation and fungi, helping recycle organic material rather than acting as a predator. Its reddish body, tough exoskeleton, and rapid dash make it difficult for small attackers to seize. Adults have developed wings, but short escape fluttering and hiding are more important than sustained flight.
