Patagonian Mara Pup
Dolichotis patagonum (pup)

Patagonian mara pups are born in or near communal burrow systems on the open scrublands and grasslands of Argentina. They are precocial, with open eyes and a coat of fur, but they spend much of their early life close to the den while adults return to nurse them. Their diet begins with milk before shifting toward grasses and other low vegetation. A notable trait is that many pups may share the same warren, giving them shelter from foxes, raptors, and other predators.
