Green Basilisk Hatchling
Basiliscus plumifrons (hatchling)

Newly hatched green basilisks live among low vegetation near tropical streams in Central American rainforest. They feed on tiny insects and other small invertebrates while staying close to cover. Their small size makes them vulnerable to birds, snakes, and larger lizards, so they rely on quick dashes and camouflage. Even at this stage, their light body and long toes help them skitter rapidly across wet surfaces.
