Blue-tailed Bee-eater
Merops philippinus

Lives in open country, wetlands, river edges, farmland, and coastal habitats across South and Southeast Asia. It hunts from exposed perches, launching into agile flights to catch bees, wasps, dragonflies, and other insects in the air. Before eating a bee or wasp, it often beats and rubs the prey to remove the sting and reduce the venom. Adults are slender, brightly colored birds with blue tails and are migratory or locally wandering in parts of their range.
