Green Tree Python
Morelia viridis

Adult green tree pythons inhabit tropical rainforests of New Guinea, nearby islands, and parts of northern Australia, resting coiled over branches with the head hanging downward. They are nocturnal ambush predators that take small mammals, birds, and reptiles with a rapid strike followed by constriction. The bright green adult coloration blends with foliage, making the snake difficult to spot in the canopy. Despite their name, some adults may show blue, yellow, or white markings depending on locality and individual variation.
