Tasmanian Devil
Sarcophilus harrisii

This stocky carnivorous marsupial lives in Tasmanian forests, coastal scrub, and farmland edges, sheltering by day in dens, hollow logs, or thick vegetation. It is mostly nocturnal and feeds on carrion as well as small animals, using exceptionally strong jaws to crush bone and tough hide. Adults are solitary and noisy around food, relying on growls, screeches, scent, and open-mouthed displays to avoid serious fights. A notable fact is that its bite is among the strongest for its body size of any living mammal.
