Mexican Bean Beetle
Epilachna varivestis

The adult is a small yellow-orange lady beetle with black spots, common in fields and gardens where legumes grow. It feeds on bean-family leaves rather than hunting other insects, chewing patches from the leaf surface. Hardened wing cases protect the body, while functional hind wings let it disperse between host plants. Like many lady beetles, it can release foul-tasting defensive fluid when disturbed.
