Cinereous Vulture
Aegypius monachus

A massive Old World vulture of mountains, dry grasslands, open woodland, and steppe across parts of Eurasia. Adults soar for long distances on thermals while searching for carrion, using a powerful hooked bill to open tough carcasses. They are usually solitary or loosely associated at food and nesting areas, where size and display help them dominate other scavengers. It is one of the largest flying birds in the world, with a wingspan that can exceed three meters.
