Pine Marten
Martes martes
The pine marten is a slender mustelid of mature coniferous and mixed woodland, especially where old trees provide dens and cover. It is an agile climber and mostly nocturnal or crepuscular, hunting small mammals, birds, eggs, insects, and fruit. Its long tail helps with balance in the canopy, and its distinctive creamy throat patch varies in shape between individuals.
