Chiru
Pantholops hodgsonii

The adult chiru, or Tibetan antelope, lives on cold high-altitude plains and desert steppe, often above 4,000 meters. It grazes on grasses, sedges, and low alpine plants while covering long distances between seasonal ranges. Its main defense is speed and endurance in thin air, with males also using long, slender horns in rutting contests. The species is famous for its exceptionally fine underwool, which has made it a target of illegal hunting.
