King mackerel
Scomberomorus cavalla

Adult king mackerel are fast coastal pelagic predators found over reefs, passes, and continental-shelf waters in the western Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico. They hunt schooling fishes such as menhaden, sardines, and anchovies, and also take squid. Long, razor-edged teeth and explosive swimming bursts make them effective pursuit predators. They migrate seasonally with warm water and are among the speedier large mackerels targeted by anglers.
