Black Kite
Milvus migrans

The adult Black Kite is a widespread raptor of open landscapes, wetlands, farmland, rubbish tips, and urban edges across much of the Old World and Australia. It scavenges readily but also hunts insects, fish, reptiles, small mammals, and birds, using keen eyesight and agile flight to seize food. A long, slightly forked tail allows tight turns while soaring and circling over feeding areas. Black Kites are notably adaptable and often follow ploughs, fires, or human activity to catch exposed prey.
