Powderblue surgeonfish
Acanthurus leucosternon

The adult inhabits clear Indo-Pacific reef slopes, lagoons, and surge-washed coral areas. It is a restless herbivore, scraping filamentous algae and detritus from rock and coral while defending favored feeding spots. A sharp white spine at the base of the tail gives surgeonfishes their name and can be swept sideways in disputes or defense. Its brilliant powder-blue body and yellow dorsal fin make it one of the most recognizable reef grazers.
